Planning for Town Centres: Guidance on Design and Implementation tools

  • Published: 21 March 2005
  • Site: Planning, building and the environment

Summary

This Guidance deals specifically with design issues relating to planning for town centres and some of the main tools available to secure the implementation of town centre planning policies and proposals.

It supports Planning Policy Statement 6: Planning for Town Centres (PPS6) which sets out the Government's policy in England on planning for the future of town centres and the main uses that relate to them.

Note: The above publication was issued by our former department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). ODPM became Communities and Local Government (DCLG) on 5 May 2006 - all references in the text to ODPM now refer to Communities and Local Government.
