Tree Preservation Orders: A Guide to the Law and Good Practice

  • Published: N/A
  • Site: Planning, building and the environment

Summary

This guide, published in March 2000, is aimed principally at local authorities. It provides detailed guidance on the making, management and enforcement of tree preservation orders (TPOs). Trees in conservation areas and trees and development are also covered.

Following important changes to TPO procedures, which came into effect on 1 October 2008, we have published an addendum to this guide, together with a revised Model TPO. You can download these documents by following the link to the addendum at the right of this page.
