Top 10 Celebrity
Areas
London remains the countrys celebrity capital, drawn to the city by
the presence of the national press, the major broadcasters and a myriad of
other factors, according to estate agents polled in a new survey. However,
there are other areas notably popular with the rich-and-famous such as Surrey,
home to rock star Eric Clapton, and Berkshire, where football presenter Gary
Lineker has his main home. See the full list below.
Homeowners looking to profit from celebrity links should pay attention; a
full 23% of estate agents also believe that a celebrity in the neighbourhood
enhances the value of property, on average by £4,300 per home. 17% of
home-owners think that the movement or presence of celebrities can have an
effect on property prices and establish trends, according to the survey's
findings.
Ten percent believe celebrity glitter could add up to £10,000 to the
asking price and eight percent think it could add £10-20,000. Four percent
even think that a celebrity neighbour could be worth £50,000 to a property.
The survey, for The One account, polled both estate agents and property owners.
